How We Create the Bell in Some of Our Cymbals

In certain cymbals, the bellโ€”a key element that strongly influences the overall soundโ€”is shaped using a traditional metal forming method known as spinning or metal spinning. This technique, also referred to as flow forming, allows us to precisely define the bellโ€™s structure before moving on to the next stage.

Once this process is complete, the cymbal arrives at our workshop, where it is hand-selected and then hand-hammered by our craftsmen. Every single cymbal is hammered by handโ€”without exception. This hands-on approach ensures each piece has its own unique character, and as a result, slight visual differences may occur. These nuances are not imperfections but rather the natural fingerprint of true artisan craftsmanship.

At Kmicic Cymbals, we believe that handmade cymbalsโ€”especially those with a hand-formed bellโ€”offer a richer, more expressive sound. Thatโ€™s why our cymbal-making process emphasizes both precision and individuality.
