About Us

Kmicic is the artistic pseudonym of A. Adam K, (born 4.10.1984 Pionki - Poland) and Kmicic Cymbals was born from an old idea: to create cymbals using materials other than traditional bronze or brass. In 2009, I forged my first stainless steel cymbal, but at the time, I was more focused on playing, listening to instruments, and crafting snares and drums. Forging cymbals had to wait, as I often set things aside. After more than 30 years of playing—on just about every kind of instrument—I began searching for my own sound. That's when I remembered the cymbal I had forged from a different material. Surprisingly, it turned out to be an intriguing instrument, different from all the usual bronzes and brasses.

I began experimenting with different thicknesses and alloys of stainless steel and titanium (there are about a million to choose from, but not all are suitable for forging). Fortunately, I live in a country with access to high-quality stainless steel and extensive expertise in working with it. Over several years, I developed my own unique alloy. Even the tools—like hammers—are made from various metals to achieve the desired effect.

Once I perfected the process, I slowly started to share my work. Through platforms like Etsy, eBay, and Instagram, I began offering what I do best—creating instruments.

I must touch on pricing: please don't compare Kmicic Cymbals to manufacturers that produce cymbals from semi-finished products bought in China or Turkey, which are often more expensive than my handcrafted cymbals or snares. Everything you find in this shop is made by me, except for a few parts of the snares, and if something is outsourced, it will be clearly stated in the description. It's hard to hear that my products are "expensive." In my opinion, and according to the market, they're quite affordable—often too affordable. Yes, titanium isn’t cheap, and neither is the specific grade of steel I need to order in bulk, but the craftsmanship and materials justify the price.
